It’s April and the inevitable April showers are bound to be here soon. Whilst the Isle of Wight is a sunny spot at the very bottom of the UK, not known for having much rain, if there is rainfall on the Island this April there’s still plenty to see and do. Here’s a list of the indoor activities for you to enjoy across the Island.

Sandown Pier
Sandown Pier is an all year round indoor entertainment venue, with something to suit all the family. From a Lost World indoor golf adventure, with special lighting and sound effects, to Ten Pin Bowling and the Magic Island Play Area which specialise in children’s birthday parties, there’s plenty to see and do. There’s also a café, burger bar and a place to grab an ice cream too. Whilst there’s plenty to do outside, from Easter, the end of the pier is open to all and has further fun – from dodgems, slides, quad bikes and tea cup rides.

Dinosaur Isle
For a century the museum of Isle of Wight Geology housed all of the Island’s geology and fossil collections. This was until 2001, which saw the grand opening of Dinosaur Isle – the interactive museum which replaced the old museum. Dinosaur Isle provides the space and facilities to properly display and conserve the Island’s rich geological collections. The museum displays over 1000 of the best fossils from the collections, and showcases everything from rock re-constructions to full sized dinosaurs.

When the weather holds out, Brook beach is one of the best places on the Island to visit for Dinosaur fossils and footprints, too. There are plenty of guided walks that visitors can take to learn all about this.

Butterfly World
If you want to see the beauty of nature and get up close and personal with butterflies from all over the world, the indoor Butterfly world in Sandown is the perfect place. As one of the Island’s leading tourist attractions, you have the opportunity to learn more about butterflies, visit the Italian & Japanese gardens, koi ponds, fountains, jumping jets, cafe, Medina garden centre and more.
