With many of you newly back to school, half term won’t be at the top of everyone’s priority list. However, with many families booking to spend their time on the Isle of Wight during Halloween month, we thought it was only right to pull together some great things to do during this half term to keep the whole family happy.
Island Con 2018
In a new event for the Isle of Wight this year, the 20th and 21st of October sees Island Con take place at Cowes Enterprise College. The event schedule outlines a fantastic roster of events, perfect for the whole family. The two day event includes interviews with film stars, including five members of the cast of American Pie amongst others and Jackass star and pro- skateboarder Bam Margera, and there’s also a full on kid’s zone, gaming areas and fan and prop zones including Star Wars and Doctor Who. Kids can meet their heroes, film star legends and be part of this fantastic pop culture weekend on the Isle of Wight in October.
Ghost Stories at Carisbrooke Castle
Well, it wouldn’t be Halloween without a few ghost stories, and where better to listen to them than in some of the UK’s most historical buildings. Join the Victorian ghost hunters at Carisbrooke Castle between the 20th to the 28th of October, the castle will be running events where you can hear the terrible tales of who lies in the cemetery. You can also make Halloween crafts and there’s a prize every day for the best Halloween costume, so dressing up is certainly encouraged.
Diwali Event at the Festival of Light at Robin Hill
Robin Hill will be hosting its annual Diwali event throughout October, bringing this popular Festival of Light to life. From bustling urban bazaar settings to tranquil woodland ponds, Bollywood music and an authentic menu, kids and adults alike will love the murals, light shows and wild animals creatively brought to life as well as the opportunity to throw the traditional and colourful Holi powder. For a truly different way to spend half term on the Isle of Wight, make sure you’re visiting Robin Hill.
Wizard Week at the Isle of Wight Steam Railway
Wands at the ready! The 22nd to 26th of October is Wizard Week at the Isle of Wight Steam Railway. With the friendly witches of Havenstreet you can create potions and learn to cast magic spells, all whilst enjoying train rides, magic shows and meeting birds of prey. Children are encouraged to come dressed as spooky witches and wizards and enter the Halloween treasure hunt, where prizes are available.
Pirates Ahoy at the Needles
